1970s-1990s: Linda Dixon’s story of the Whitehorse Women’s Fastpitch League

I played in the Whitehorse Women’s Fastball League from 1976 to 1996, and I always played on the Kopper Kweens. It was a team that stuck together for the most part over the years. People came and went but a lot of people stayed on the team for most of the years. We always had the same colours –yellow and green were our colours.

There were four teams at the time, we got as high as seven for a couple of years but four was pretty much the constant. The women played on two nights and the men played on alternate nights. We always went and watched the mens’ games and most of the men would come and watch the women’s games. It was a real community thing. If you played ball that’s what you did.
