Author Pierre Berton Plays Ball

Pierre Berton, pictured above second from the left while taking a break during a baseball game on Dominion Flats. Berton was born in Whitehorse in 1920, and lived in Dawson City as a child. Years later, Berton came back to the Klondike to work in mining camps while pursuing his history degree at the University of British Columbia.
Berton went on to be a prolific Canadian journalist and author. He also wrote one of the most well-known books on the Klondike Gold Rush, called Klondike. Berton passed away in 2004.
