Whitehorse team flies in George White for the win!

The Faro Fastball Playdowns was one for Ripley’s Believe it or Not. In the final game between the Faro A team and the Whitehorse All-Stars, Vic Istchenko, voted best pitcher of the five-team tournament, was unable to play because of an injury in the previous game when he slid into third.
Whitehorse, needing the win, thought of only one solution. Dip into their own pockets for $237, charter a plane and get George White, the Regina Royals’ pitcher, up on the next flight….
The sudden-death final saw White throw a controlled, quick life-saving game.Had White not been there Whitehorse would have been without a pitcher and undoubtedly would have blown it.
